Ingredients

  • 1 lb or 1/2 Kg Shrimp
  • 1/2 medium red onion
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Ginger
  • 1.5 tbsps fresh garlic
  • 2 tbsps scallion
  • 2 tbsps cilantro leaves
  • 2 tbsps soy sauce
  • 2 tbsps ketchup
  • 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp hot chili sauce more to taste
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 3 tbsps Vegetable Oil

Instructions

  • Clean and wash the shrimp, set aside.
  • In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, ketchup, rice wine vinegar, hot sauce and sugar. Set aside.
  • Heat up a pan, I’m using my favorite cast iron wok. Add 3 tablespoons of oil.
  • When the oil is hot, add the chopped onion and cook 1 minute.
  • Add the ginger, cook 30 seconds and then add the garlic. Cook for a minute or two until soft and just golden, don’t let it brown. Add the sauce and cook 30 seconds.
  • Add the shrimp and cook stirring often until they turn pink. The shrimp cook very quickly, in just a few minutes. When the shrimp are almost done, add the scallions. Now the shrimp are cooked, add the cilantro and mix.

Notes

This is a dish everyone loves to eat because it’s ok to get messy and eat with your hands. Kids love it too, maybe without the heads! I hope you try this as it is so easy and tasty.
