Crispy Oven Baked French Fries
Healthy and Tasty French Fries without the mess of frying.
Ingredients
- 5 Potatoes
- 2 tbsps Vegetable Oil
- 1 tsp Coarse Salt
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1/2 tsp chili powder optional
Instructions
- Heat your oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit or 232 degrees Celsius.
- Peel and cut potatoes into wedges.
- Put cut potatoes in a bowl and add 2 tablespoons oil, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp paprika, 1/2 tsp turmeric and the chili powder if you want heat. Mix well.
- Place potatoes in a single layer on an oiled baking sheet.
- Bake 15 to 20 minutes in the heated oven. Turn each piece over and cook for another 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.
should we soak the potato wedges in water for 30 minutes to get rid of most of the starch?
Hi, I didn’t soak the potato wedges before baking and they came out well. You can soak them if you like, make sure to dry them completely before baking π

Do we need to put foil on the baking sheet?
No, itβs better to put potatoes directly on the tray so itβs easier to turn π
Which types of potatoes do you recommend ? (Idaho/russets or white/Irish or reds/also whites but different, or yukon golds/yellows ?) One of your commentators said she had no luck with the Idaho/russets, which are generally considered the standard in BAKING potatoes. Which type do YOU use ?
