Ingredients
- 1lb/450g Italian bread loaf
- 1stick/4oz/113g unsalted butter softened
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese grated fine
- 3 tbsp flat leaf parsley chopped fine
- 1 tsp dried oregano or 2 tsps fresh
- 1 tbsp garlic grated (about 4 cloves)
Instructions
- Heat your oven to 350 F or 180 C.
- With a serrated knife, slice the loaf of bread in half horizontally. Put the 2 halves face up on a baking sheet lined with foil or parchment paper for easier cleanup.
- Mix the soft butter in a bowl. Add the parmesan, crush the dried oregano between your fingers and add that to the bowl and the chopped parsley. Mix this well. Add the minced garlic and mix that in evenly. Taste and add salt if needed.
- Spread this mixture on the cut side of both halves of bread, as evenly as you can going to the edges. Bake in the heated oven for 20 minutes. Check at 15 if your oven runs hot. After 20 minutes, the edges of the bread should be golden brown.
