Heat up a few inches of vegetable oil in a heavy pot to fry the chicken wings.
In a bowl, crack 3 eggs, add 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp garlic powder and half tsp of ground black pepper. Mix this really well. In another bowl, add 1.5 cups of all purpose flour, 1.5 tsps salt, 1.5 tsp garlic powder, 1.5 tsp paprika, 1 tsp ground black pepper and 1 tsp onion powder. Mix this really well.
Take each piece of chicken and dip it in cornstarch on both sides. It’s easiest to pile ½ cup of cornstarch on one side of a baking pan, dip each piece in and leave it on the tray.
Now dip each piece in the egg mixture, drip off excess and put in the flour. Completely coat each piece with the seasoned flour. It’s best to use the non-eggy hand for the flour. Set the coated pieces on the same baking tray.
When the oil is hot, put in a few pieces of chicken at a time. I can put 5 pieces in my pot at one time. I’m using a cast iron 3.2 quart pot that came as a combo with a 10.25 inch skillet. If you want to get the pan: https://amzn.to/2KhBxGg
Cook the chicken for 8 to 10 minutes depending on how big they are. Drain them and place on a paper towel lined plate or wire rack. Keep frying them in batches. The wings are seasoned nicely so they can be eaten by themselves. Of course you can serve them with hot sauce, ketchup, barbecue or your favorite sauce.
Hi JJ,
Sorry for the late response, I was away for a few weeks.
You can replace the wings with other parts, just cook the thighs and drumsticks
for a longer period of time 😀
I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own weblog and
was wondering what all is required to get set up?
I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny?
I’m not very internet savvy so I’m not 100% positive.
Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
This design is wicked! You obviously know how to keep a reader entertained.
Between your wit and your videos, I was almost
moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Excellent job.
I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it.
Too cool!
When I originally commented I clicked the “Notify me when new comments are added” checkbox and now
each time a comment is added I get four e-mails with the same comment.
Is there any way you can remove me from that service? Thank you!
Hi, what was your original comment and around what date was that? That’ll help me figure this out since I haven’t had any
other complaints about this problem. Thanks.
Loving your recipes and blog! Love that it’s straight to the point, with no filler BS. This recipe is my go-to way for wings now as I’ve made them at least 4 times.
Great recipe. However, after a few batches in my small fryer, I was getting impatient and the gang was eating them faster than I could fry them. 😁
So, I decided to see how the rest of the wings would turn out by baking them. I baked them at 400 for about 18 mins, flipped and baked for about 15-20 mins until done. They came out excellent as well.
This recipe is a keeper, fried or baked.
Does it work with an air fryer instead of frying into the pan?
Hi Dave, I haven’t tried the recipe in an air fryer but it should work 🙂
Hi Anita,
If I were to replace the wings with thighs and drumsticks, what should I look out for?
Thanks in advance!
