Total Time 30 minutes
Servings 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 12oz/340g can spam
  • 2 medium Yellow Onion sliced
  • 2 medium green bell pepper sliced
  • 4 rolls or sliced bread
  • 8oz/225g cheddar cheese grated

Instructions

  • Wash top of can and remove lid. Pop out spam by turning it upside down. Slice 1/4 inch thick. You should have about 8 slices. Heat up a pan without oil and fry spam on both sides until golden brown, about 2 minutes per side. Remove from pan and set aside.
  • Add 2 tbsp oil to the same pan and add onion and peppers. Add 1/4 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp ground black pepper. Saute until soft and almost golden, doesn't need to be golden brown.
  • While vegetables are cooking, lightly toast rolls or bread until hot. Sprinkle grated cheese evenly over top of soft vegetables and cover for a minute or two. When cheese is melted, remove cover and turn off heat. Divide spam among rolls. Top with vegetables and cheese.
  • TIPS: * If you like, spread mayonnaise on the roll before putting spam on. * For spice lovers, spread mayonnaise and sriracha on the roll. * Servings depend on how many slices of spam you want in your sandwich. * Generally I use 2 per sandwich which will give you 4 sandwiches. * Spam is very salty so do not over salt vegetables.
