Rice Cooker One Pot Meal Recipe

Tasty One pot meal perfect for a weeknight. Customize meat and vegetables according to your taste.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb/450g sausage or other meat cut up into bite size pieces
  • 1 medium Yellow Onion chopped
  • 2 tsp Italian Seasoning or 1 tsp dried thyme and 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp Red Chili Powder do not use if you want the dish mild
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Black Pepper
  • 2 medium Carrots cut up into 1 inch pieces
  • 12oz/350g tomato puree
  • 10oz/280g long grain white rice
  • 15oz water
  • 1 cup Green peas fresh or frozen. If frozen, leave out while rice cooks
  • 1.5 to 2 tsps salt

Instructions
 

  • Saute meat and onions together until meat is cooked. Use the saute function of your rice cooker or cook separately. After meat is cooked, add all dried spices and saute for one minute.
  • Add cooked meat to the rice cooker. Add tomato puree, rice, water and carrots. Stir and taste. Add more salt if you like. Cook according to rice cooker instructions. I used the white rice function of my rice cooker and the dish was done in 42 minutes.
  • Open rice cooker and stir in fresh or thawed peas. One pot meal is ready!
