Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup 1.5 sticks melted butter unsalted
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1.5 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Heat oven to 325 F/163C. Whisk flour, baking soda and salt.
  • In a large bowl, cream melted butter with white and brown sugars. Add vanilla, eggs and beat until creamy. Add flour mixture and mix well. Stir in chocolate chips.
  • Scoop dough using ice cream scooper, roll into balls and place 6 on a baking sheet (1/2 sheet tray). Bake in the middle of the heated oven for approximately 15 minutes until edges are pale golden. Remove from oven, set tray on a cooling rack and leave for about 2 minutes until firm enough to remove.
  • Remaining dough can be wrapped and chilled if you wish. Chilled dough will take a few more minutes to cook.
  • *** If your oven runs hot, check cookies at 12 minutes instead of 15.
